Internship Final Reflection-Advertisement Assignment #4

My goals for Internship were to learn as much as I can and improve my networking skills. Yes i achieved this goals and to achieve this goals I had to go to internship everyday, stay focus and ask for more works when I feel like I'm bored. The most important thing I've learned is to call them if I'm not going or if I'm going to be late. I also learned to never start to do something if I don't really understand what to do. I've grown as a student by focussing on the work I'm doing and get everything done. I've grown as a young adult by being more responsible. One thing that I've learned about the professional world is that in one everyone is on their own, everyone have to get their work done on time. But even though everyone is on their on their own, everybody is working together to make place or the company better. One thing that I'm going to miss about my internship is leaving school early. I'm also going to miss working with people who are older than me. During my internship there I haven't really faced any challenges except for going there when it's hot and sunny. One advice that I would give to a new intern at this site is to learn as much as you can, and to ask to do more challenging stuff if what they give o do is not challenging enough.

Midpoint Reflection

The internship has been different from my expectations because I thought that there was going to be more interactions with other people but I was wrong. Something similar between my internship environment and IHSL's school is that there's people from different countries. One thing that is different is that the people in Yele are more professional than the student in IHSL. During my internship, I've learned how to be a better typist. I've also learn how to speak up and i also improve in my networking skills. My co-workers and Me work pretty well together, and my mentor is really nice and she's really to help me learn something good from it. I have really grown wit interacting with adult because now i feel pretty comfortable talking to adult. I also feel pretty comfortable asking adult questions.

Four weeks into internship

My internship name is Yele Haiti. My company help the people in Haiti. Because of the disaster that recently happened in Haiti, they're focused on the earthquake relief. At my internship, i answer the different emails that people send, i make copies sometimes. Sometimes they send me to different places to pick up different stuff. Every day, i leave school around 11:40 to go take the train to go to Yele Haiti. It takes me about 1 hour to get to my internship. I work from 1 to 5 from Monday to Thursday. When i leave my internship at 5, I get home around 7:00. My mentor (Nathalie)sign my time card for me every day, and when she's not here Lexy sign it for me. My internship site is located in the Rockefeller center. Three qualities that i have noticed about my mentor (Nathalie) in the last four weeks are that she's funny, she knows how to handle difficult situations in a good way and she's caring. One memorable moment I have of my first three weeks is meeting Wyclef Jean almost every day. One thing that I really enjoy about my internship is the food, because they buy different kind of food for me every day. So far, I haven't really have any challenge yet at Yele.

First Two Weeks

□ Describe your mentor and the environment in the office you’re working.
In my internship at Yele Haiti, everybody is nice with each other. There's no discrimination between us and we treat each other with respect. My mentor's name is Nathalie and she's a very nice girl. She takes her time to explain me what to do and if I don't understand she explains it again. She's very patient.

□ Describe your first day, from the first minute you arrived to the minute you left.
In my first day at Yele, I was somehow excited and scared at the same time. I was excited to meet new people and work with new people. I was also scared because I had no idea about what I was going to do.

□ What are your goals for internship? What knowledge do you hope to gain? What skills do you hope to gain?
My goals for internship is to learn as much as I can. I also would like to develop my networking skills by talking with the people who work there and the other volunteers.
